It’s hard to believe it’s been a little over a month since our Annual Fernbank Auction (and what might have been a last social outing for many of us since our world changed)! With so many changes swirling so quickly, we never had a chance to properly thank everyone for coming out for what was a thoroughly enjoyable evening. The food was delicious, the company more than pleasant and the auctioneer entertaining!


Not only did we get to connect with so many of our fellow parents and administrators, we raised much needed funds for our amazing school! We had over 275 people in attendance and raised over $80,000! A true heartfelt “THANK YOU” doesn’t even begin to express our gratitude. 


With this celebration also comes unexpected challenges. Our current national situation is unprecedented. We are doing our best to fulfill expectations and we hope that you will understand that some auction winnings may not take place exactly as planned or executed as in previous years. At this point in time, all physical items that were won have been dispersed and delivered but please let us know if you are missing anything.


Below is an update on some open items or future events as a result of the Auction:

Fernbank Fiesta Auction Item  

Originally scheduled to take place Saturday, April 18th is postponed (and not canceled) until a later date. For those who purchased tickets, we will communicate another date (with plenty of advance notice) once it is safe for groups of that size to take place. Won’t that be a welcome celebration!?


Business gift certificates (including any GC’s to restaurants, venues, and camps or the like)

First we’d like to preface this with the understanding that these businesses (large and small) very generously donated to our auction. When the time is right, if needed, we ask that you contact the business to request any leniency in expiration dates or an adaptation of what the auction winning entailed. Please use your best judgment. If you have already pursued that route with disappointment, we ask that you consider your “winnings" to be a donation to Fernbank. If that does not suit the needs of your family, please reach out to Anna DeVries. 


"Teacher of the Day” Homeroom & Admin/Specials 

We will execute this VIRTUALLY this year during the week of May 11-15th (starting slightly earlier for Specials) - which is our last week of school! Teachers will be reaching out to their student winners to make plans and hammer out the details. We have had several brainstorming sessions on how best to make this event fun this year, so we hope to be able to add a few fun surprises to bring a smile to these kiddos' faces. Since it will be virtual, parents will get to see more of their child “in action" this year, which is not usually the case when this takes place at school!


Teacher Experiences in & out of school 

These should be completed when social distancing restrictions have been lifted and it is safe again (hopefully NLT August 2020). Again, teachers have the list of winners and will be reaching out to their student winners to make plans. It will be a joyous reunion and something to look forward to!


All Day Specials 

We have made the decision that these will be honored during the 2020-21 academic year. We hope you understand having to make this difficult decision but we are confident your student, and their class, will still thoroughly enjoy the special day.
