THE AUCTION WAS A HUGE SUCCESS!

Wow, was that fun! Thank you to everyone who joined us Saturday night and to all of the fabulous bidders who helped us raise more than $73,000! (The Fernbank Foundation will be sending out a note with more details this week.) Congratulations to Erin Haraway, Jonna Osborne and the whole auction team for a fantastic event!

For everyone that won a physical item - like a gift certificate or a a piece of student artwork - please pick up your winnings in the office conference room between 7:30-8:00 am anytime this week.

There are just a few more things left! Instead of accepting bids, these items are Buy-Now so check out what we have and act fast!

DR. SEUSS IS THIS FRIDAY MARCH 2ND!

Help us celebrate the birthday of this beloved author who inspired so many other authors and illustrators to create fun books for early readers.

Wednesday - Dress wacky for Dr. Seuss' Wacky Wednesday

Did you know that Wacky Wednesday was originally published in 1974 as written by "Theo Leseig" (another alias for Theodor Seuss Geisel)?  The illustrator of this fun book is George Booth, who went on to become famous as a New Yorker cartoonist. One of his other favorite children's books is Possum Come A'Knockin'.

Thursday---Dress in pink and gray for the Elephant and Piggie series, by Mo Willems

These favorite books were some of the first winners of the Theodor Seuss Geisel Award, given to honor distinguished books for beginning readers.

WEDNESDAY MARCH 7TH IS GEORGIA'S WALK TO SCHOOL DAY!

Students from Fernbank Elementary are joining students from many other Georgia schools to celebrate the benefits of walking/biking to school. Our goal for all children at Fernbank to participate!

Walking/biking to school helps promote:
• Healthier students
• Safer streets
• Stronger communities
• A cleaner environment

Ride a bus? YOU ARE ALREADY DOING YOUR PART to help with all of the above!

Live too far away?
• Coordinate with a friend who lives closer to meet up and walk with them
• Park on a nearby street and walk the rest of the way

**NEW incentives for all participants!**

GA SCHOOL CLIMATE PARENT SURVEY

Parents & Guardians:
We would like to take this opportunity to encourage you to participate in the annual Georgia School's Parent Survey. The data will be used as part of the calculation of the School Climate Star Rating. The Georgia Parent Survey is modeled after the student survey and contains 24 questions. Parents will be able to complete the survey using their personal computers, smartphones or tablets. The Georgia Parent Survey is also available in Spanish. Parents may select the Spanish version within the survey. Survey responses are anonymous and will be submitted directly to the Georgia Department of Education for analysis. Take the survey now.

Georgia Student Health Survey II
The Georgia Student Health Survey for third - fifth grade is a brief 15 minute survey. Please encourage students to take the questions seriously and answer truthfully. The results are used to guide each school's School Climate Initiatives, provide direction for health curriculum, provide goals for drug prevention education, and more.

  • Parents can opt their child out of this survey by completing a Passive Permission/Opt Out Form for their child's grade level. Copies of the student survey questions, and parent permission forms are available on this webpage.

  • Participation is voluntary; however, each school must obtain 75 percent student participation to receive a Climate Star Rating.

KINDERGARTEN ROUND-UP IS MARCH 16TH

Do you have an upcoming Kindergartener?  If so, please bring them to our Kindergarten Roundup on Friday, March 16th from 9:30am - 11:30am.  This is sure to be a great day full of surprises for you and your Future Fernbanker!
