THIS WEEK'S HEADLINES
THANK YOU TO THIS WONDERFUL FERNBANK COMMUNITY!
Not only did you meet our goal of $51K 3 days early,
you exceeded it!
Thank you to every single person who answered our call to support Fernbank. We went from a little over 15% community participation on Tuesday, to almost 25% on Wednesday to about 38% this weekend! The money you've raised, along with our Annual Auction at the end of February, Community Investors, grants, and corporate matches will help get us get to our total fundraising goal of $186,000. Every dollar funds learning opportunities and experiences for our children, our teachers and our school. Thank you for helping us make Fernbank the best it can be!
For those families who contributed $250 or more (either on your own or with a company match), keep an eye out for a fern leaf on our family donor wall. If yours isn't up there yet, give us a shout! We may not know what you'd like written on your leaf.
For families that donated or pledged $500 or more, you will soon be receiving an invitation to our fall adults-only cocktail reception with Principal Ray. Mark the evening of November 11th on your calendar! It's not too late to be invited - just make or increase your donation so you meet or surpass $500.
Thank you again to EVERYONE for your support! Each one of your donations - large or small - helped us get past our goal and you have our deepest gratitude.
The Fernbank Foundation and Fernbank's PTA
What an amazing two weeks for Fernbank! Because of the incredible generosity of our Fernbank Families and the effervescent enthusiasm of our kiddos and our Foundation & PTA leaders, we reached our goal even before our final day! YOU ARE AMAZING!!!!
Our students are totally excited about Slime Day and Book Character Dress Up Day, as well as our School-Wide Dance Party; but WE are excited about all of the wonderful enrichment and instructional opportunities these funds will bring to make Fernbank even more of an engaging and exciting place to learn!
I want to extend a personal “Thank You!” to each and every one of you who contributed to Fund the Fern to make this happen! From parents, grandparents, friends, to the students themselves, every donation was a vital and special part of helping us reach our Fall fundraising goal!!!
Thank you, Fantastic, Fabulous Fernbank!!! You are the most wonderful school and community ever!!!

ENJOY THIS SLIDESHOW FROM SOME OF OUR FUN EVENTS THIS OCTOBER!
TACKLING HUNGER AND FOOD WASTE
Did you know Americans waste enough food every day to fill a 90,000-seat football stadium!
At Fernbank, We are contributing to that by throwing away so much uneaten food and food packaging every day! Let’s work together to reduce our Food waste and trash!
Introducing the SNACK SHACK
During lunch, students can donate any uneaten fruit , unopened milk, and unopened packaged food to a share table in the cafeteria. Any food that was not consumed during lunch will be donated to our community snack shack. This will be open to all of the Fernbank community.
Students and staff who are hungry and need a snack can come to the table and take something healthy to class or home with them. We all need to eat healthy snacks for thinking, problem solving, and playing!
Try our Waste Free Lunch Challenge this week and build new habits for the future!!
Our green club is sponsoring a food waste challenge to reduce our waste consumption during lunch.
If your child brings lunch from home:
Replace prepackaged and single use items like granola bars, individual serving snacks and yogurts with Tupperwares, reusable containers, reusable cutlery, a cloth napkin.
Replace juice boxes with refillable water bottles.
Remind your child to bring home what they don’t eat (unless it's fruit or something that is safe to go on the Snack Shack share table) This is a great way to see what they are eating and what they aren't!
If your child gets their lunch at school:
Remind your child to place their uneaten, unopened lunch items on the share table, we will be collecting these items for the Snack Shack.
