As expected, this year is just a little bit different so please take note:
All purchases will happen from the Fernbank Elementary on-line store.
All purchases will happen BEFORE you enter OPEN HOUSE.
You MUST register for a time slot for OPEN HOUSE.
We will have VERY limited ability to take payment at OPEN HOUSE. If you don't want to wait in long lines, please transact before arrival.

Reserve a one hour slot by clicking here.
Sign up for volunteer opportunities now!
Visit the Fernbank online store or by clicking SHOP in top navigation and choose items you wish to join, order, donate or purchase.
Check out with credit card, debit card or Paypal.
Arrive at school during your one hour reservation window on July 28th.
Put on your mask and check in at front desk and then follow the arrows.
WHAT CAN I DO AT OPEN HOUSE?
Learn about your PTA, the Fernbank Foundation, the Principal's Advisory Council and volunteer opportunities. Join, donate and volunteer!
Pick up your exclusive, pre-ordered t-shirt and other merchandise. We will have adult sizes too!
Sign up for After Care. Yes, After Care will be offered this school year!
Sign up for the Dekalb County Schools Meal plan (school meals will be free to all students this year but we do ask you to sign up at OPEN HOUSE for accurate planning).
Find out bus routes or sign your child up as a walker or car-pooler.
Learn more about the Clubs we will offer this year.
And last, but not least, find out your child's home room teacher!
Afterward, you will be directed to your child's teacher's classroom to meet and greet!
Please remember to join your PTA , contribute to the Fernbank Foundation and sign up for volunteer opportunities.
If you pre-ordered school supplies, those will be delivered to your child's homeroom on the first day of school.
All attendees must wear a mask for the duration of your visit.

We will have a limited number of dated agendas, undated agendas and sketch pads available on-line.
Do I need to attend OPEN HOUSE?
No. You can do most things online including joining your PTA, ordering a t-shirt, agenda, sketch pad (which we can have delivered to your child's homeroom when school starts) or a yearbook.
Can I find out my child's teacher if I don't go to OPEN HOUSE?
Yes. Homeroom teacher assignments will be mailed our on the evening of July 27th.
To learn more about bus routes, meet your teacher (s) or sign up for AfterCare, OPEN HOUSE is your one stop shop. You can also sign up for Aftercare at the front office on the afternoon of the 28th, or between 3pm and 6pm during the first week of school.

Teacher of the Year
Peter Frederick has taught Special Needs Kindergarten at Fernbank for the past 5 years.
His teaching career began in 2002.
He holds a master's degree in Special Education and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Educational Leadership from Cambridge College. He received his undergraduate degree at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore on a full athletic track and field scholarship. He is a former Track and Field Athlete for Trinidad and Tobago and competed in the Olympics in 2000 in Sydney, Australia.
He is also an Assistant Track Coach at Druid Hills High School.

Caroline Spillers has been a Counselor at Fernbank since 2016. She started her career at Canby Lane in 2011 and has also worked at Oak Grove and Sagamore Hills schools. She is an avid runner and a big fan of Auburn University, her alma mater.

Amanda Hickey has been a paraprofessional at Fernbank ES since 2017 and became the Director of the Aftercare program in 2019. Originally from Staten Island, NY, Ms. Hickey chose to pursue a career in education after having been a Print Production Coordinator for 10 years in Manhattan NY.
