Fernbank Elementary offers a great after school care program (the ASEDP) that runs from 3PM until 6PM. 

 

It is operated by teachers and members of our school's staff. The children have the opportunity to participate in outdoor or gym free-play, computer lab, work on homework, art, etc. Enrolled children that have also signed up for after-school clubs will transition to aftercare when their club is finished meeting.

The weekly tuition payments are $60 for one child, $110 for two children, $165 for three children, and $220 for four children. 

​

In addition to the weekly tuition, there is a one-time $25 registration fee to reserve your child's space in the ASEDP and to assist with start-up materials.  If you are registering more than one child the fee is $20 per child. Tuition and registration fees will be assessed once the lottery process is complete. Families with an outstanding ASEDP balance from previous aftercare or summer camp enrollment must have a zero balance in order to be enrolled in the aftercare program.

The ASEDP generally follows the school calendar, but there are a few days during the school year where aftercare is not offered.​ The school will communicate any aftercare closures in advance.​

Dear Fernbank Families,

 

Last school year, the demand for our Aftercare Program exceeded the number of spaces we were able to offer. As we prepare for the 2026–2027 school year, we are implementing a lottery process to provide a fair and equitable registration experience for all families.

 

Please know that our goal is to serve as many students as possible. The pre-registration process will help us better understand where the greatest needs exist across grade levels so we can adjust our plans and maximize enrollment opportunities.

​​What if I miss the pre-registration deadline?

Families who miss the pre-registration window will have the opportunity to add their child(ren) to the aftercare waitlist during Open House.

 

I have an outstanding Aftercare or Summer Camp balance. Can I still pre-register my child(ren)?

Yes. Families with outstanding balances may complete the pre-registration process. However, a student will not be eligible to receive an aftercare placement until all outstanding balances have been paid in full.

 

We are new to Fernbank and have not yet received school communications. Can we still sign up?

What if I have more than one child I am pre-registering for aftercare? Siblings will be considered together during the lottery process.

Why is there no longer an option for daily or drop-in aftercare?

Our goal is to maximize the number of available spaces for families who require aftercare services on a consistent, daily basis. Transitioning to a weekly enrollment model allows us to better serve the greatest number of families possible. We appreciate your understanding and support.

Yes. Please refer to the short list of alternative aftercare providers (compiled by PTA) linked below. Families interested in these programs should contact the organizations directly for information regarding availability, services, schedules, and fees.
